postheadericon The famous microwave oven transformer arc welder

I’VE UPLOADED A NEW ONE , WITH THE “BETTER” COOLING. It works fine, the in phase out phase thing they tell you, has to do with the way ac power is pulsing, it doens’t matter if you get wrong, then you wil just only get 3 to 6 volts, just flip the 220 volt (or some areas 110 ). Usually they have ceramic wires in welding trafonsformers, but i just used standard VD cable. At the end it melted one of the transformers, and it shorted out, the reason was i’ve been constant welding for 20 minutes, and the cooling was just to small to handle all the heat, so i’ll have to make a new one. it’s not that hard you know!!!! At first i thought: “two microwave oven transformers :S where the hell can i find those, so i phoned the first household aplliences store i could think of, ask them if the had old microwave ovens transformers. the said yes, but you will have to remove them yourself. so said so done. build a box form 6mm trespa and 1.8mm thick plywood added a fan, and a switch. done!!! when your electrode gets stucked, the spool on the trafo virbrates extremely hard, pretty funny. I’m a pretty good welder, but with this selfbuilded creation it’s very hard to keep the arc, why i do not know. if you keep safety measure in hand, then you are completely safe!! although i carey no responsibility for any kind of dismemberment or what kind of accident’s (neither does Star Simpson, the autor from the website i found the idea on) www.instructables.com ps the person welding last, isn’t me

Thursday April 9 2009 1:55am Random Video… At first it looks like an in-built aquarium. A closer look will reveal it is a calendar! The date, month, and time are engraved on the crystal shell! Touch the screen and the main menu pops up! It is the following: 1. Aquarium or Fish Tank 2. Wall Calendar 3. Light Switches 4. Control Switches for gadgets. You can set the piped in music, mood light, automatic wood log fireplace, climate control airconditioning, coffee maker to turn ON as it senses a person come into the area. All appliances and machinery will hibernate or turn off when it senses no movement after 20 minutes. 5. Programmed timer for connected gadgets such as Video recorders, Blue Ray players, DVD players etc. 6. Watch TV and cable. 7. Monitor the stock market. 8. Video conference calls and chat. 9. Play touch screen video games. 10. Turned off, it looks like a MicroWave Oven! There are no light switches in this house. All controls are touch screen. why go to the trouble buy a welder

  • thepaashaas:

    @monstercameron
No no, its the UV radiation that burns you, you know, the light we cant see ;)

  • monstercameron:

would we get any eye damage looking at it through the screen

  • robertcastellanos:

    @motocrossguy199 its also called flashburn

  • robertgift:

@thepaashaas DON’T LET YOUR EYES GET UV BURNED.
Forget the nonsense of wet towel, etc.
    DON’T LET IT HAPPEN!
    Why such terrible, spelling!

  • melaniew77msn:

    uh alrighty then…

  • JakeyCak3z:

You know. out of all the welding videos I’ve seen where people would show the bead when they’re done, almost all of them aren’t acceptable.

It’s cool to make a welding machine out of a microwave transformer.. but of what use is it? Unless you use SCR’s you have no current control and the best you’ll get is probably around 40 amps, you can run what, 1/16th rod with that?

if you want to weld, save up and buy a real machine.. and the proper safety gear.

  • spitzification14:

@thepaashaas or used tea bags wrapped in cloth works good my dad used it when he got arc flash then he got me an auto darkening hood so i dont wreck my eyes

  • justin76bmw:

@thepaashaas don’t need a doctor? you din’t have them bad enough, iv’e had a good case of flashes, around 3am i woke up in agony, i imediatly went to the emergency room, no wet towel, no waiting a day, hospital now. they gave me zylocane, kinda like cocane eyedrops, they worked imediatly.

  • tkazokas:

I new a guy who thought he was such a bad ass and that he can weld with sunglasses. Guess what…. next day comes in with his all face burned as if he layed in the beach for hours. what a dumbass

  • fennecfanatic:

Protip: Keep your genitalia as far away from potentially lethal electrical arcs as possible.

  • mjmerie:

    1:23: Buzzzz….ah ah….oh….what the hell….buzzzzz…..click. LOL

Scrounge $100 and buy a cheap Harbor Freight arc welder before you shock yourselves.

  • cowtowngangsta:

lol welders flash can be pretty serious

  • KateFan:

Microwave oven? Looks like a bit of regular kit to me

  • thepaashaas:

why would you go to a doctor? it will only last one day, just put a wet towlel or washing cloth on your eyes, it helps allot, it makes it feel less painfull

  • motocrossguy199:

and if you use sunglasses, you get whats called arc eyes. thats the feeling similar to pouring sand down your eyes and it cant be fixed by a doctor

  • thepaashaas:

because its very intense UV radiation, and you cant see what your doing without a mask, The mask darkens allot

  • mapleguy1029384756:

why do you need the mask? cant you use sunglasses?

  • RamiAtrash:

good way to burn your cam matrix

  • thepaashaas:

no you cant! the dont have enough power, if you wanna weld with car batteries, connect 3 of them in series and use the negative to weld, and positive to ground

  • MacsCanfly:

can’t you use a car battery jumper?

  • SthealthRaider:

    thanks

  • thepaashaas:
